1. Overview
The Buddha Dordenma is a colossal gilded bronze statue of Shakyamuni Buddha located atop the hills of Kuwajangsa, overlooking Thimphu Valley. Standing at 54 meters (177 feet), it is one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. Built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the statue fulfills ancient prophecies and symbolizes peace and prosperity for Bhutan and the world.
